It is quite difficult to separate motorcycle types and features between them. Therefore, it has been categorized by taking advantage of the details such as its sitting style, the position of the feet, the uprightness of our waist, the knee angle and how much our arms are bent from the elbows.
There are several distinct systems for categorizing motorcycle types, classifying the intended purposes of each motorcycle, or how the motorcycles were designed, or a combination of both. The six main categories are broadly defined: sport/racing, cruiser, touring, standard, dual-purpose, and off-road. Each category represents a distinct set of attributes that separate them from each other, though they are often related.
The most common motorcycle type is the sport/racing type. This class features bikes of all sizes and power. Sport/racing motorcycle riders are interested in using their bikes as a means of transportation, while still performing competitively. The primary features of these bikes are wide tires; high horsepower; large tires; and high-performance suspension. These types of bikes are best suited for traveling around the open road. They are also suited for racing; although they may be slower than sport/racers, they are highly efficient in their use of fuel and can be very effective when racing long distances.
The next most common motorcycle type is the cruiser motorcycle. These motorcycles are designed primarily for leisure use. They are designed for long periods of highway travel and are generally not considered as powerful as sport/racers. This type of motorcycle is suited to occasional travel as well. They may have lower horsepower than sport/racers but are usually faster than riders who prefer to ride longer distances at a comfortable pace. Cruisers have been considered an “in” style for motorcycle riders over the last few decades.
Of course, as time went on and the popularity of motorcycle use increased, it has become very easy to find a motorcycle for every type and purpose.

A light or medium-weight cruiser is a good starting motorcycle because it is easier to handle at low speeds and has more engine power. Just don’t expect to win a race against sports motorcycles unless you buy a “powerful cruiser“, a cruiser with a more powerful engine and other performance upgrades, but probably not a very good first choice for beginners.
